Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy, condemned the heinous suicide bombing which targeted a guesthouse in Logar’s Pul-e-Alam in Afghanistan, which killed dozens of civilians, many of whom university Students. The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Rome, appreciates this statement and express that the Afghans cherish their visceral-historical and strategic-relationship with the people and government of Italy. The people of Afghanistan are also indebted for Italy’s continued support and assistance as well as the sacrifices Italy has rendered both in blood and treasure in Afghanistan.

H.E. Khaled Ahmad Zekriya, held a phone conversation with H.E. Carmel Vassallo, Ambassador of the Republic of Malta to Rome.
The two discussed the latest updates in the Afghan peace process and the further enhancement of the bilateral ties between Afghanistan and Malta.
The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Rome and Permanent Representative of Afghanistan to Rome Based Agencies, H.E. Khaled Ahmad Zekriya, today presented his Letters of Credence to Mr. David Beasley, Executive Director of World Food Program (WFP).
The two discussed the importance of food security in Afghanistan, especially at this critical juncture that investments are more focused on the peace process, along with capacity building opportunities in this area.
H.E. Khaled Ahmad Zekriya, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Rome – Italy, met with the Italian special representative to Afghanistan, Mr. Gianfranco Petruzzella.
The two discussed the achievements of Mr. Petruzella's recent official visit to Kabul and Herat, the role of the Italian Republic in the Afghan peace process along with the country's commitment to continue cooperation with Afghanistan after the withdrawal of the NATO troops.
H.E. Khaled Ahmad Zekriya, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Rome – Italy, paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Dr. Neena Malhotra, Ambassador of the Republic of India in Rome.
The two discussed the latest updates in the Afghan peace process, the preparations for the celebration of the 100th Anniversary of Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Afghanistan and Italy, and the further enhancement of the bilateral ties between Afghanistan and India.


H.E. Ambassador Khaled Ahmad Zekriya, held a telephone talk with the Diplomatic Advisor to the Italian Minister of Defense, Mr. Massimo Marotti.

The two discussed the latest updates in the Afghan peace process and the further strengthening of the security and defense cooperation between Afghanistan & Italy, particularly to increase the number of military scholarships for the Afghan students.

 

H.E. Khaled Ahmad Zekriya, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Rome – Italy, paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Murat Salim Esenli, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in Rome.
During the meeting, both sides discussed the latest updates in the Afghan peace process – including the upcoming Istanbul meeting, and the further enhancement of the bilateral ties between Afghanistan and Turkey.
Ambassador Khaled Ahmad Zekriya, met with Mr. Carlo Ferro, President and Mr. Roberto Louongo, Director General of the Italian Trade Agency.
During the meeting, both sides discussed the possible coordination and cooperation to expand the economic and trade relations between Afghanistan and Italy in various fields, including mining, transportation, agriculture, food products, embroidery and carpets, energy, and specially to support the embassy initiative called "One Stop Afghan House".
Khaled Ahmad Zekriya, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to Rome – Italy and Mr. Mateen Adel, third secretary and head of the Cultural Relations of this Mission, met with the Senior Advisor to the Italian Ministry of Culture, Mr. Paolo Toschi.
 
Ambassador Zekriya in this meeting, called the historical and strategic relations between Afghanistan and Italy inseparable, and hoped that in cooperation with the competent authorities of the host country, a new chapter in relations between the two countries, especially in the cultural sector, would begin during his tenure. Subsequently, Mr. Toschi congratulated Ambassador on his inauguration as the Ambassador of Afghanistan to Rome, and assured him of the Italian Ministry of Culture’s full commitment to implement the bilateral cultural programs.
 
The two sides also discussed the Afghanistan peace process and the celebration for the 100th Anniversary of Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Afghanistan and Italy.
