H.E. Khaled Ahmad Zekriya, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Rome, held a phone call with Min. Plen. Alessandro Gonzalez, Deputy Diplomatic Affairs Advisor to the Office of the Prime Minister of Italy.
The two exchanged views on the latest updates in the Afghan peace process and the further enhancement of the bilateral ties between Afghanistan and Italy, particularly after the withdrawal of NATO troops from Afghanistan.

Following his series of meetings and talks with prominent Think Tanks and Academic Institutions in Italy, on Wednesday, May 26th, H.E. Ambassador Khaled Ahmad Zekriya, held a Zoom call with Dr. Daniele Frigeri, Director of Centro Studi di Politica Internazionale (CeSPI).
The two discussed mutual cooperation between “CeSPI” and relevant academic and research centers in Afghanistan, collaborative writing of articles and research papers, holding roundtable discussions & academic seminars, providing fellowship opportunities for the Afghan researchers, and the formation of a Lobby group on the embassy’s initiative.
H.E Khaled Ahmad Zekriya, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Rome, met with H.E. Mammad Ahmadzada, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Rome.
The two discussed the Afghan peace process and further expansion of the bilateral ties in the cultural and academic sectors. Both sides agreed to set up joint cultural and educational initiatives, such as a joint training program for the diplomats of Afghanistan, Italy and Azerbaijan, in the near future.
H.E Khaled Ahmad Zekriya, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Rome, met with H.E. Tyloy Komekov, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkmanistan in Rome.
The two discussed the Afghan peace process and further expansion of the bilateral ties.

H.E. Khaled Ahmad Zekriya, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Rome, met with Ambassador Hans Hoogeveen, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Rome based International Agencies. In addition to discussing bilateral issues, the two exchanged views on further coordination in the activities of Rome based International Agencies, particularly those of FAO.  

On April 02, 2021, H.E. Khaled Ahmad Zekriya, had an interview with ASRIE Analytica, a sponsored project of the Italian leading media agency – Notizie Geopolitiche, where he discussed the TAPI Project and the withdrawal of the U.S. Troops from Afghanistan.

In remembrance of all those who lost their lives in the recent terrorist attacks in Logar province & Syed Ul Shuhada school in Kabul, and in solidarity with the victim’s families, Afghanistan’s flag will remain on half-mast at the Embassy of Afghanistan in Rome today.

Following his series of meetings with Think Tanks and Academic Institutions in Rome, on Thursday, May 6th, H.E. Ambassador Khaled Ahmad Zekriya, met with Ambassador Nelli Feroci, President of the International Affairs Institute (Istituto Affari Internazionali).
The two discussed the establishing of cooperation between the “IAI” and relevant institutes in Afghanistan, collaborative writing of articles and research papers as well as holding roundtable discussions, academic seminars and the formation of a Lobby group on embassy’s initiative.

Please be informed that the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and its consulate section in Rome, will be closed on Thursday May 13th & Friday May 14th, 2021, due to the Eid al-Fitr. The Embassy and consulate section will resume services on Monday, May 17th, 2021.

The two talked about the latest updates in the Afghan peace process, the Afghan migrants living in that country and the further enhancement of the bilateral ties between Afghanistan and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
